Goalkeeper Oriented Training
Last line of defense. First line of offense
ACGK offers dynamic, year-round training as well as camps and clinics for goalkeepers looking to get more than just the basic training they receive at their clubs or schools. Weekly training sessions, even during off-season, enable our keepers to continue to build and master their skill sets, while the camps and clinics provide an opportunity for our keepers to explore all of the different aspects of their positions as goalkeepers. This often-forgotten last line of defense is the only focus in our specialized programs.
The High Performance Programs (HPP) are the peak of the program offerings and are held in conjunction with our partners at Grove Soccer Academy (GSA), following an incrementally progressive curriculum that is tailored to each individual and their needs. Goalkeepers receive written evaluations at the end of every 4 session block of training, and the individual development plan will be updated regularly as benchmarks are established. The training sessions mimic a professional training environment in which goalkeepers and field players train separately in their own groups, both focusing on a particular topic of the day, and then combine for game like scenarios that center on that particular topic. The benefits of being able to train situations technically and then put them into a live practice are unparalleled, and a goalkeepers understanding of the position is greatly enhanced as they can immediately apply what has just been learned.
We have 3 offerings in the High Performance Programs:
Futures Academy (FA) for those players up to 11 years old.
Middle School High Performance Academy (MSHP) for those players 12-15 years old.
High Performance Academy (HPA) for high school and college players ages 15 years old+.

The Strength, Speed, Agility, and Quickness program is designed to enhance the power and train the movements specific to the goalkeeper position. A goalkeeper uses different energy sources than those of field players because the position requires sharp, explosive movements. The SSAQ program has a heavy focus on bodyweight and resistance band activities, as well as goalkeeper specific running drills, so workouts can happen anywhere. Too many of the “soccer conditioning training programs” given out by clubs, schools and colleges, focus only on the physiological demands of the field player, failing to provide goalkeepers with the drills and attention that they need to flourish. We are here to provide that opportunity to succeed. Programs are offered throughout the year, and include off-season, pre-season, and in-season options. The futsal GK program is designed to offer goalkeepers a greater insight into the skills and techniques used in futsal, and how they transfer to the outdoor game. An understanding of the HOW, WHEN, and WHY particular skills are used will benefit the goalkeepers in making better save decisions, especially in the outdoor game. Speed, agility, strength, footwork, balance, body control, and co-ordination are key concepts that are addressed in the conditioning aspect of the program, as well as foot-skills, distribution, and the mental approach needed to play the game. Camps are offered throughout the year, often during school breaks, but there are also small 3-4 week special topic clinic offerings to help the goalkeeper focus on particular areas that they feel they need support in. Camps enable the keepers to get a last minute refresher for the start of the season, as all skills are covered in an extensive curriculum in 3 and 4 day programs. The clinics act as a refresher program for the keepers in season, and cover technical and tactical topics that the keepers will see in games and tournaments. ACGK offers 1-on-1 sessions with our professional coaching staff to enable a goalkeeper to train in a more focused environment, with constant feedback and repetition, to enhance the technical abilities of the goalkeeper. Whether you are a young keeper exploring the position for the first time, or an experienced youth or adult keeper who wants to hone your skills, our 1-on-1 sessions will benefit you greatly. Contact us, and select “Private Sessions” on the services drop down menu.
The semi-private sessions are for a maximum of 4 keepers and are run like a professional goalkeeper training session. Most college and professional teams have a max of 4 keepers on their roster, enabling the coaching staff and goalkeepers to explore the bigger picture tactical applications to the goalkeeper position. The sessions also encourage greater focus and attention, as keepers will also be serving during the sessions, further developing their distribution and psychological skills. These sessions are lively and engaging, and the technical and tactical aspects of goalkeeping are fully covered. Contact us and select “Semi-Private Sessions” from the services drop down menu.
